Dear Moose,

What a fun week at SES! Students and staff have REALLY enjoyed our 2017 Spirit Week. We had huge participation-- many classes had 100% participation daily. Everyone enjoyed the extra fun and laughter during the week. Many thanks to the Student Leadership Team and families for helping students with costumes and ideas. As one of the second graders said to me, " Ms. Mendonsa, this is the BEST week ". We have included some pictures of spirit week below.

As March is winding down, we have our MCAS testing dates planned. This was available in last week's RTN, and is listed again this week for your review. The amount of testing sessions is much less than the previous years. Grade 4 will be taking the tests on computers this year; the rest of the grades will be taking the tests on paper. Similar to past years, we have created Google Docs for grades 3-6 for families to sign up to contribute a little healthy treat for testing days. Students really enjoy having a special snack for a brain boost on those days. These sign-up sheets will be shared again.

As a reminder, May 5th will be a regular school day for students. Union 28 has canceled the Curriculum Day previously scheduled on that day due to the high amount of snow days.

Please consider supporting the SES PTO on Saturday the 25th at the SAC as they host a trivia night! They are charging $5 to play with teams of up to 4 people per team.

Enjoy the weekend!

Jackie

Announcement from the Superintendent:

Dear Parent/Guardian:

As we all know, this has been a very snowy and stormy winter!

Due to the inclement weather on Tuesday, March 14th, it was necessary to cancel school.  Given the amount of snow days we have had this year, before the 14th, we were up to 6 snow days and our last day was to be Thursday, June 22, 2017.  In order not to have to bring students back for an additional day, it was decided to cancel the Union #28 full day professional development day on May 5th. Therefore, Friday, May 5, 2017 will be a regular school day.

Thank you,

Superintendent Jennifer J Haggerty
