Hello SES Moose!

We are getting into our routine now and the pace is picking up.  So many great things are happening in all of the classrooms and during Specials times.  We also have a lot going on outside of school time - this Sunday our school is holding a Walk a Thon to support Puerto Rico after the devastation of the island.  You should have received pledge sheets last week and there is one attached to this Roadtown News.  There will also be a bake sale so in addition to bringing your pledge sheet and walking shoes, bring a little extra change to buy a treat!  Thanks to Jaime Donta and Sally Campbell Galman for organizing this event.

Next week is our Scholastic Book Fair in the school library.  Ms. L. and the Junior Book Crew will be setting up on Friday afternoon and it will be open all week for students to peruse and purchase books.  The more books we individually purchase, the more books we can buy for our classrooms and school library.  There will be a family book night on Wednesday the 18th from 5:30-7:30 where you can come to school at night to make purchases.  Thanks for supporting our school and the strong culture of reading we have here!

No school for students next Friday, October 20 due to Curriculum Day.

Early release on Tuesday, October 24 at 1:00 for Family Conferences.  Family Conferences will continue on Wednesday, October 25 with a regularly scheduled 1:00 dismissal.

Please see the attached letter regarding Vocabulary Costume Day (Friday, October 27).  Enjoy the changing of the seasons (brrrr!) and the beautiful fall colors while they last!

Jackie

***SCHOOL NEWS***

Dear Shutesbury Parents/Guardians,

I was wondering if anyone had a carseat that would be appropriate for a preschool age child and above that they are no longer using.  We have boosters without a back so we are looking for one with a back to it.  We would like to have one for emergency circumstances.  If you have one in good condition, please give me a message:  [email protected].

Thanks so much,

Katie Harrington

The Book Fair is Coming!

Our Scholastic Book Fair brings to school a selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose their own books motivates them to read more. The book fair provides funds for our library and leadership opportunities for our 5th and 6th graders, too! In the spring, we will once again run a fair in conjunction with World Eye Books of Greenfield.

Book Fair Dates:          Monday, October 16th to Thursday, October 19th

Shopping Hours:         School hours each day, plus Wed. evening

Family Event:   Wednesday, October 18 from 5:30-7:30

Moose On the Move Mileage Update!

Many students and adults have logged a large amount of miles so far this year.  These are combined miles from PE class, recess, extra recess, walking field trips and the official Moose on the Move Club (after school and before school).  The following children have hit 10 miles already and will be recognized with an incentive prize at the next all-school assembly on Friday, October 27!  Within the next 2 weeks we are sure that more students will hit their 10 mile mark and also be eligible for a prize at assembly.  We’ll keep you updated in the Roadtown News.
