Hello Moose,

A chill is in the air and many families are preparing for next week's Thanksgiving holiday.  Fall is really here!  At this point in the year things tend to ramp up at school and the students and staff get very busy.  The PTO is hosting a Dinner and Games Night tonight beginning at 5:00 in the cafeteria.  Bring a dish to share and a game to play (although there will be dinner and games available to all families who would like to attend regardless of their contribution).  There is a suggested donation for our PTO if your family is able to make one.

Next week is a 2-day school week with Wednesday - Friday off for the Thanksgiving Break.  Hopefully everyone can enjoy some relaxing, family time and delicious food.  What a great time to remember what we are thankful for!

Upcoming events include the Kindergarten - 2nd Grade field trip to the UMass Fine Arts Center for a play on November 30. Thanks to the K-2 team who helped to get a Yellow School Bus Grant to help provide transportation for this fun trip. There will be a Folk Dance Night organized by our wonderful music teacher, Ms. Berube, and supported by the PTO on December 7.  Knowing the moves or having rhythm are not required to attend!  And our traditional Artist in Residence program will occur in December, with all classes participating!  Busy, busy, busy!  I am thankful to be the Principal in a school that values the arts to this extent.  Every day, schools across the nation are cutting arts programming and it is very special that our little school can uphold such wonderful experiences for the children.

Have a fun and safe holiday!

Gratefully,

Jackie

PS.  Puerto Rico fundraiser update:  Yohann Jordaan, an SES 2nd grader who was born in St. Croix, raised an unbelievable $700 for our walkathon!!  This brings our total up close to $4000!!  Amazing and fabulous work, Yohann!

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
IS:  Can it be a beverage?

JCB:  Yes.
IS:  Hot cocoa.

JCB:  Who makes it the best?

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at home?
IS:  Draw.  I like to draw pictures of animals and magical things.

JCB:  If you could be any animal what animal would you be?

JCB:  Is there anything you’re looking forward to at school this year?
IS:  I’m looking forward for the next Book Fair.

JCB:  Is there anything else you’d like the Shutesbury community to know about you?

Sunday, December 310:30AM-2PM; Eating Your Way to Strong Bones

An adequate supply of calcium is necessary to build and maintain strong, healthy bones. Of course, many simple and delicious foods supply this essential mineral – beans, leafy greens, soy foods, sea vegetables, nuts, seeds and a few special grains. Yet some foods increase our calcium needs and others inhibit its uptake, while others actually steal it from our teeth and bones. To cut through calcium confusion and discover delicious ways to nourish your bones, join Leslie Cerier for this fun and informative hands on vegetarian cooking class.

For more information on each class, please go to www.lesliecerier.com/classes

Cost per class is $75, paid in advance to Leslie Cerier or $100 at the door if there is room. For more information, please email Leslie:[email protected] or call Leslie on her landline: 413-259-1695; no Texts
