Dear Moose Community,

Well, what a wacky weather week. One week ago we had temps of -20 degrees and a foot of snow and today we have temps in the 50's! Thankfully, we were able to have an uninterrupted week of learning. Students and teachers were able to get back into routines and schedules.

Sixth grader Shae Thomas-Paquin (magical teacup and villager), third grader Isla Sparrow (magical teacup and villager), Isla's mom Emily Jones (magical napkin and villager) , and former music teacher Ms. Becca (Belle!) are all in the  Amherst Leisure Services Community Theater's production of Beauty and the Beast at Bowker Auditorium at UMASS. The show runs this weekend and next weekend. If you're looking for a fun and great quality musical experience go and see them! Tickets can be purchased online (https://tix5.centerstageticketing.com/sites/amherst/) or at the door. Some performances are sold out so you may want to check ahead of time!

We are running out of boots and gloves to lend students for recess. If you have old boots, gloves and snow pants that you can donate to the school, they would be put to good use. Also, please help your child remember their boots, snow pants and gloves from home everyday.

We do not have school on Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Have a great weekend!

Jackie

***MOOSE ON THE MOVE NEWS***

The Moose on the Move are back at it, running and walking on our plowed track!  Thanks to our Head Custodian, Matt Foster, we are able to use the track year round.  It can get a little icy but it beats trudging through the snow!  We are now meeting on Mondays from 3:10-4:00pm and Wednesdays from 8:00-8:30am through the end of February.  If your child is interested in joining us, just send in a yellow note, registration (found on last week’s Roadtown News) and the $6 registration fee.  All are welcome!

At assembly on Friday, Jan. 12 we will recognize the following students who have hit milestones with running and walking this year.  Way to go, Moose!

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at school?
MR:  My favorite thing is to play with my friends.  I like to play, ummm, it’s kind of complicated.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
MR:  Candy.  Candy canes.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?
MR:  Sit near the glass window and get out some puzzles and play with them.

JCB:  If you could be any animal what animal would you be and why?
MR:  Bunny because that’s my favorite animal.  A baby bunny because it’s cute.

JCB:  Is there anything else you’d like the Shutesbury community to know about you or is there anything special about you?
MR:  I like telling stories to myself, usually about myself.
