NO SCHOOL.  Winter Break.

Hello Shutesbury Moose,

We have three weeks left of school before the winter break and things are in high gear!  Classrooms are buzzing with excitement and the students are enjoying the colder, snowier weather.  See the note under "School News" about weather appropriate clothing.  A few weeks ago we sent home the Inclement Weather information and we will attach that information again to this week's Roadtown News.  Our winter break will be from Monday, December 24 -  Tuesday, January 1 with everyone returning to school on January 2.

Today is the last day to purchase Shutesbury Elementary School apparel from the online store!  Visit https://shutesburyelementaryschool.itemorder.com to order long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, hats, blankets and bags.  Orders should come in before the holidays if you'd like to make a purchase as a gift for someone!  The PTO has switched up some meeting times to accommodate families that can't attend meetings at night.  The next PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, December 12 at 8:45am.  Hope you can make it!

Happy December!

Jackie

***SCHOOL NEWS***

Winter has come early!  Please remember to pack your child’s snow coat, snow pants, mittens/gloves and hat each day.  It’s helpful if these items are labeled with your child’s name in case they get moved around in the cubbies.  Thanks for your support with this!  Children are only allowed in the snow if they have all of these articles of outdoor clothing.  If you need help procuring outdoor clothing for your child, please contact Nurse Katie and she can you find resources.  413-259-1212 x3 or [email protected].

***MOOSE ON THE MOVE NEWS***

In the months of September, October and November we walked and 995 miles total!!  Great job, Moose!!

Our Thanksgiving Fun Run raised over $170 to go towards our track upgrades and Moose on the Move prizes!  Thanks to all who turned out – students, families and staff!!

We continue  to meet on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings.  Not just Moose on the Move Club members can rack up miles – recess, extra outside time, walking/biking to or from school (which we don’t recommend in the winter!), and school associated group runs are all ways that students and staff can up their totals.  Keep moving, Moose!

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***

SUMMYR FROM 6th GRADE!

SK

JCB:  What is your favorite thing about school?
SK:  Probably lunch because you don’t have to learn stuff and you don’t have to go outside.

JCB:  What is your favorite lunch?
SK:  Probably the Turkey dinner or Thanksgiving dinner lunch.

JCB:  What book are you reading right now?
SK:  Crash by Jerry Spinelli.  We had to read it for a book group.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at home?
SK:  Riding horses.

JCB:  Where do you ride?
SK:  Craig Memorial Equestrian Center.  I lease a horse there.  Her name’s Makita.

JCB:  What do you like to do outside?
SK:  I like riding outside.  That’s the only thing I like to do outside.

JCB:  If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
SK  I would be a cat because they’re usually spoiled and they get to live inside, not outside.
