Spring Recess.  NO SCHOOL!

Hello SES Community,

It has been delightful to have more mild temperatures this week and hear the students running and laughing outside. This week we wrapped up some of our time with our artist in residence, BZ Reilly. She will be popping back in several more times to help us wrap up our mural work. Many students got very excited about the planning and painting of the colorful mural in the 5/6/PreK hallway. Thank you to BZ for your hard work and talent and to the Shutesbury community for supporting the arts.

Grades 5 and 6 are learning about the Quabbin in a literacy, social studies, science and math unit. Today they went on a day long excursion led by Shutesbury community member Cliff Read to dive into the creation of the Quabbin. We are so fortunate to have meaningful and exciting field trips for our students that connect directly to what is being learned in the classroom!

The preschool presented a fabulous play this week about the woodland creatures they have been learning about. The students wore costumes, memorized some lines, acted scenes and displayed their stuffed animal creatures that they made. It was a fabulous success!

We have two more full weeks before April break. MCAS is approaching and there is a calendar attached to this Roadtown for you to review. Next week grades 3 and 4 go to watch the Pioneer Valley Symphony!

Please join the PTO for FAMILY TRIVIA NIGHT THIS Sunday ( March 31) from 4:00-6:00pm. Enjoy a night of fun and trivia!!!!

Have a trivia-filled weekend!

Jackie

Family Trivia Night!

Sunday, March 31, 4-6 p.m.

@ SES gymnasium

Make a team of 3-5 kids & adults and come to family - friendly trivia night!

$5-15 donation per team appreciated

This event is for families to engage in game time together and will be lots of fun!

Although we are holding it in the gym, we ask that running, climbing and rough play be kept outside under family supervision. This way, we can all hear the tantalizing questions and discuss our clever answers.

Thank you!

We are currently organizing our Annual PTO Raffle (formerly auction)

to be held during the annual 6th grade spaghetti dinner on May 17.

If you are able to help out in any way or would like to make a donation to be raffled,

please contact Melissa Warwick at [email protected], 413-336-1616

or leave us a note in the SES office.

No amount of help is too small; it takes many hands to make an event a success.

AP:  My favorite thing about school….snack!  We usually have chips.

JCB;  What do you like to do at recess?
AP:  I can’t think of anything but scaring people.  I usually go on the swing or run around.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at home?
AP:  Usually I make these puppet things and I make a family of them, and then I usually play with them, and I usually write a book about them, and I usually write a book about all their personalities.  And I like draw.

JCB:  What book are you reading right now?
AP:  I like reading Nathan Hale books – basically “Hazardous Tales.”

JCB:  If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
AP:  I would be a fox or a turtle or a wolf or a coyote or a crow.  Why would I be a wolf?  Because wolves like howling at the moon and I want to, if there’s hunters herding a tribe, I want to be there for them.
