Principal’s Message:

November 14, 2014

Dear SES Community,

It has been a whirlwind of a week! A day off mid-week, half days, conferences, assembly and classroom learning make for a fast paced adventure. We have continued to enjoy having families into the building for conferences.

The SES Student Council met this week and presented at Friday’s assembly. The Student Council will be selecting different character values each month to discuss and present at assembly. They will also be choosing a school-wide project to accompany the value work. This month, they have chosen the idea of teamwork. They are leading the school in an initiative to create and select a meaningful school mascot. It is their intention to bring school spirit and community to SES with a mascot. School t-shirts are also on the horizon. Going forward, the student council will organize community service, social justice and school-betterment based projects as well.

Next week, the School Safety Committee will meet on Monday, November 17th at 8:00am in the conference room. The School Council will meet Tuesday, November 18th at 3:30pm in the conference room. School Committee will meet on Thursday, November 20th at 7:00 pm.

Enjoy your weekend!

Jackie Mendonsa, Principal

SES Student Interview of the Week!

Lindsay!

JM: What do you love about school?

LF: Math is my favorite. I like it because you can make different combinations of numbers to make 10, 9, 8 and 7. I don’t know how to do it too much, but I’m learning how to. It is fun.

JM: What do you like to do in your spare time?

LF: I like to play outside on my playground with Alex. He’s my big brother.

JM: What do you want to be when you grow up?

LF: An artist! You get to do a lot of art stuff and I’m really good at that! I like clay and pictures.

Small Extra Clothes Wanted

If anyone has extra clothes to fill our nurse’s bureau (especially small size underwear, pants, socks and shirts), please send them in with your child.  Also, if you find any clothes at your home labeled with “SES,” please send them back in to school.  Extra clothes make the day much more comfortable for children who get sick, have accidents or jump in puddles, and we are running low!!  Thank you!

CRAIGIEBURN OPEN FARM DAYS, 10:00am to 3pm

Saturday, Nov. 29th; Sunday, Nov. 30th; Saturday Dec. 6th; and Sunday Dec. 7th.

Once again, it’s time for the annual Open Farm and Holiday Sale at Craigieburn Farm alpacas.  This is our final year for hosting our annual holiday event.  The support we have received from Shutesbury and our neighboring communities has been heart-warming.  Our decade as alpaca farmers has connected us to the earth in inspirational ways.  We are deeply grateful for this experience in our journey.

So please come one last time.  Visit our farm, sip cider, enjoy some holiday shopping and meet the whimsical creatures that provide us with soft and insulating fiber.  Our selection of products includes yarn, roving, sweaters, shawls, jackets, throws, hat, socks, gloves, and soft, cuddly teddy bears.

We are located at 243 W. Pelham Rd (Shutesbury), across from Leonard Rd.  Visit our website (Alpacas4u.com) for more details or call us (413-253-4485).  Not a school sponsored event.
