All School Assembly, 2:30-3:00pm

Another busy week has come and gone!  Our 6th graders (as well as their families and their teachers) did an amazing job last Friday night serving up 300+ plates of spaghetti at our Annual 6th Grade Spaghetti Dinner.  Thanks to all who helped plan and organize this event and to all who came out to support the class.  What a special and treasured tradition!

Hopefully we've begun another tradition with our PTO Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast!  A large crew of dads organized and carried out this fun event for the community last Sunday and served up 65+ plates of pancakes.  We have so many dedicated families in Shutesbury who really understand what it means to support children's education.  We are very lucky!

Looking ahead to next week, we invite incoming Kindergarteners to come to our Kindergarten Open House on Wednesday, May 23 from 9-10:30am.  There is NO SCHOOL FOR CURRENT KINDERGARTENERS ON THAT DAY.  We are excited to welcome these new families into the school community!

And next Friday, May 25 Brian Bender will have his band students performing for us.  An afternoon, condensed version of the performance will start at 2:20pm so all students and staff can get a taste of what the band students have learned this year.  The evening performance will begin at 6:00pm.  Thanks to all families for their support of these students and the arts!

Enjoy your weekend!

Jackie

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***

Luc from 5th Grade!

LW

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at school?
LW:  I like to… probably it would be science.  I really like to watch the Mystery Science videos that we do in class.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
LW:  That is hard.  I really like chicken wings.

JCB:  Do you have a favorite flavor?
LW:  Yes, buffalo.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?
LW:  Definitely it would be play with Legos.  Also, I like to play video games.

JCB:  If you could be any animal what animal would you be and why?
LW:  Well, that’s a hard one because there are so many cool animals.  But probably I would go with a monkey.  Because they’re small and fast, and they can pick up things, and I think they’re kind of cute. And I could play tricks on all my friends and family because I’d be small and fast.

JCB:  What are you looking forward to this summer?
LW:  Every summer we’ve started this thing where we go to Rhode Island because my Nana and Pa (which is what we call my grandparents on my mom’s side), we stay at their friend’s house in Rhode Island and it’s really fun because there’s an ice cream place right down the street!

JCB:  Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
LW:  I really like to draw and I’m VERY good at art.

JCB:  What kinds of things do you like to draw?
LW:  Usually made-up creatures, sometimes I draw animals and sometimes vehicles but not a lot.
