Hello Moose,

Another wintery weather week brought an interesting school schedule. We had an early dismissal and an Alternative Structured Learning Day (Blizzard Bags). We have been approved to trial two (2) Alternative Structured Learning Days. We will be conducting a survey to collect feedback on the successes and difficulties with the bags at home. Over time, when we have broadband and a better understanding of what is successful, the bags will morph into an even better learning opportunity.  Your student has 4 school days after the designated Alternative Learning Structure Day to return the completed work. They are able to receive help and accommodations from the teacher if they are confused or need support. Students will be marked absent for the Alternative Structured Learning Day if the work is not submitted by the 4th school day. Having these days counts as a school day and the day is not added on to the end of the year. As always, I continue to welcome feedback regarding these days.

I wish you and your family a wonderful February break filled with fun, relaxation, reading and laughter.

Jackie

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***

ELIJAH FROM 6th GRADE!

ET

JCB:  What is your favorite thing about school?
ET:  Subject?  It would be math.  We did circumference and area of circles and now we’re doing algebra. (FUN FACT:  Elijah has taught his 1st grade sister about algebra and finding the circumference of a circle!)

JCB:  What do you like to do outside?
ET:  Play football and basketball.

JCB:  What would you like to be when you grow up?
ET:  Either basketball player or a chef.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to cook?
ET:  Mainly desserts.  I’ve gotten really good at making cannolis.

JCB:  Who is your favorite basketball player?
ET:  It would probably be Kyrie Irving.  Right now he plays for the Celtics.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
ET:  Does that include desserts and stuff?  Ice cream.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at home?
ET:  If I can pick anything it would be riding a dirt bike.  I’ve had a dirt bike for 2 years and before that I had a 4-wheeler, but it broke.  So my dad sold it and now he owes me a 4-wheeler.

JCB:  If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
ET:  A dog.  Any dog.  Because it’s the most protected animal because it’s favored by humans the most.

JCB:  What are you looking forward to about middle school?
ET:  It’s a lot more organized and smarter than elementary school with the way that the classes are arranged.
