Spring Recess.  NO SCHOOL!

Hello SES Community,

We were surprised to learn that after today we have only 43 days left in the school year!  This year has flown by, and now that Spring is (kind of) in the air the school energy and activities start to pick up.  With the later sunsets we recommend that you stick to a consistent schedule and bedtime, for the benefit of you and your child….and their learning.

Next week we will continue to hold Parent/Guardian Conferences on Tuesday 4/9 (early dismissal!) and Wednesday, 4/10.  We have enjoyed seeing all of the families at the school and hope that your conference gave you a glimpse of the daily, school life of your children.  As you walk through the school note the beautiful artwork on our boards and the new mural in the 5/6 and Preschool hallway – a collaborative, school-wide mural with direction from artist BZ Reily.

After next week we break for our Spring Recess for a week.  Play outside, enjoy the company of family and friends, and read, read, read!!

Cheerio,

Jackie

***MOOSE ON THE MOVE NEWS***

The Moose on the Move Community Dinner was a smashing success in March!  We raised over $545 for incentive prizes and track upgrades!  Thank you to all of the families, staff members, community members and grandmas that helped out by donating food, washing dishes, setting up and cleaning up!  What a fun and fruitful event!

In March we collectively ran/walked 172 miles!  On our simulated jaunt across the country we have made it to Garden City, Kansas with a total of 1,728 miles!  That’s a lot of miles!

Speaking of miles, we will be organizing a team of Moose to participate in the Lake Wyola Road Race this year.  They have added a 1.6 mile Fun Run this year that many of our Moose can easily run or walk with an adult.  This event will be held on Sunday, June 9.  See “Community Section” for more info and look for further details to come out about a Moose Team in April/May.

The Run 4 Kids is on April 13, 2019 from 9am-3pm at Mahar Regional High School.  All miles will be added to your Moose on the Move Miles in this exciting 100 Mile Club event (see attached flyer for details).

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***

FINN FROM 5th GRADE!

FZ

JCB:  What is your favorite thing about school?
FZ:  Well, um, I do like recess a lot.  I usually play basketball but now I’m playing more tag because I find it more boring because everybody’s being more competitive.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
FZ:  Spaghetti and chili cheese dogs.  Everybody thinks chili cheese dogs are gross.  I get them at Quarters.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at home?
FZ:  At home I like to go fishing.  I go at Lake Wyola because I live across the street from it, and I go on the dam.  I also like to play video games on my PlayStation but I’ve been banned.  My mom decided.  It’s sort of like a video game diet.  I can’t play video games.

JCB:  What book are you reading right now?
FZ:  White Fang.  It’s by Jack London.  It’s pretty good.  I’m also reading Winter Dance by Gary Paulson.  So Gary Paulson, before he was a writer, he had a trap line and he had a lot of cool adventures about that and it’s pretty cool.  It’s about how he was living in Alaska learning about the wilderness.

JCB:  If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
FZ:  I would like to be a bird.  Maybe a snowy owl.  I just really want to know what it’s like to fly.

JCB:  What do you want to be when you grow up?
FZ:  I mean, I do want to be a playground architect because most of the playgrounds are pretty boring.
