Dear Moose,

It has been a busy week! It is always a joy to see families in the building during conference weeks. Just a reminder that Tuesday, October 29th is a 1:00 dismissal day due to conferences.  (12:30 dismissal for Preschool)

Today was our 6th Annual Vocabulary Costume Day! We love this tradition of dressing up as a robust dictionary word and being walking dictionaries. Today we had a word parade on the track and assembly. There was a fun spooky song played by Mr. Bender and some older students. Pictures to come!

Thank you to all the families who donated items to the clothing swap and to Nurse Katie for organizing it! Please see Nurse Katie if you have any hardships with winter coats, hats, gloves etc. She can help find items for you! The chillier weather is on the way!

Next week we have conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday. We also have a Moose on the Move Dinner on Friday at the SAC! Please consider supporting Moose on the Move and attending the dinner!

Next week we will welcome NOVEMBER!

Jackie

***PTO NEWS***

Each year we ask one family in each class to become a class representative. Your child’s teacher has sent an email with details about volunteering.  This job has minimal commitment, but makes a big difference! Please let your student's teacher know if you can help!

HALLOWEEN is almost here! We look forward to another fun year for Shutesbury kids!

Please help defray the cost to families on the trick-or-treat path on Leverett Rd by donating candy.

The PTO will distribute the candy among the homes that request it. Thank you!

Please come to our first next meeting, Wednesday, 11/13 at 7 p.m. in the SES library.

Please let us know if you would like to help out in any capacity! Help at one event or join us at our monthly meetings. We alternate meeting times mornings and evenings. Contact us at [email protected].

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***

David from Preschool

DW

JCB:  What do you like best about school?
DW:  Blocks.  Building towers.

JCB:  What do you like to do at recess?
DW:  Play chase game.  Emmeline, a new person, just chases me and Tycho so much.  She’s like a monster and she has claws up like this [makes scary claws with hands] and it’s so scary!

JCB:  What is your favorite food to eat?
DW:  Mac and cheese.

JCB:  What do you like to do when you’re at home?
DW:  Hang out with my baby sister, Ava Hope.

JCB:  What’s your favorite book?
DW:  CatStronauts!  That’s the name of the team.  It’s a graphic novel with a lot of different books, and every book they travel to a different planet.  In the last book that we just got they went to Pluto.  It’s a hard planet to go to because it’s really far away.

JCB:  What do you want to be when you grow up?
DW:  A knight!
