Hello Moose,

The end of February is near and March is certainly coming in like a lion (at least the wind is lion-like!).  After the February break and before the start of a busy spring, we are trying to revisit and remain consistent with our school expectations, reviewing ways to be kind, safe and engaged.  March is a long month in an elementary school!!

March brings with it a season of change as we start to think about the transitions that will happen this spring.  The preschool Open House will be held next Wednesday and the following Wednesday (March 11) the Amherst Regional administrators will be coming to Shutesbury for a meet and greet with families who will have students moving up to the Amherst Regional Middle School in the fall!  This falls on the same night as the PTO meeting, so if you can make it out you'll be welcome to come hear about the PTO Silent Auction plans as well.

Next Friday our qualifying 4th - 6th graders are invited to the Books in Action party celebrating the Massachusetts Children Book Award books at Erving Elementary School from 5:45-8:30.  This is always a fun event highlighting different plot lines and themes and spotlights the hard work of our school union librarians.  Thanks to Ms. L for all of her hard work planning this fun night centered around reading!

Please make sure to read the attached letter from Superintendent Culkeen regarding CDC recommendations for Coronavirus precautions.

Bring on the Spring!

Jackie

Our Annual class baskets and PTO Auction are coming up! These are the main fundraisers of the year!

**Each grade needs an adult volunteer to head up the collections for the class basket. We sell raffle tickets for the baskets at town meeting and during the auction on May 15. We have a helpful how-to sheet and support for class volunteers!

**WE NEED YOU for our annual auction! Email to let us know if you can make a few phone calls or pick up donations as you get around town doing what you do. It's easy work that helps a lot!

We also would love to know of any business or artist or service, etc. you think would be willing to donate to our auction. All recommendations are welcome.

Please let us know if you would like to help out in any capacity. Contact us at [email protected].
