May 21, 2021

Dear Moose Community,

We had another perfect weather week!  The temps are getting up there and the sun is getting stronger, so please make sure your child has sunscreen on, a hat and a water bottle.  Due to the fact that most classrooms spend most of their time outdoors, you may also want to put bug spray on your child.

As of right now, we are continuing our mask policy until the end of this school year (June 16th). If your child would like to utilize our light/disposable masks that we have available, they are more than welcome to do so. Please just let Nurse Katie and your child's teacher know. Staff members are aware that students may need significant time outside taking breaks as the warmer weather approaches.

Students and staff are wrapping up their time with our Artists-in-Residence from the Piti Theater! Jonathan and Jonah have been with us for two weeks, working with each classroom on improv and theater games and strategies.  The children have been so excited about this experience!  There are quite a few budding performers in our midst!  Thanks to Laura Ginsberg-Peltz, 5th grade teacher, for submitting a STARS grant so that this experience could come to fruition.

Andrea Darby and Jan Tyner have been incredible Special Education teachers at SES. They have both worked here for over two decades. Both of these incredible educators will be retiring at the end of this school year. I want to publicly acknowledge their incredible dedication, compassion, talent and professionalism to the Shutesbury Community. We will continue to celebrate them for our final 4 weeks of school.

We are starting to make plans for some SES end of year traditions – Field Day, Graduation and last day of school plans look a little different this year, but we are hoping to celebrate in style in a safe and fun way!  *REMINDER:  We DO have school on May 28th, but there is no school on Monday, May 31.  Last day of school on Wednesday, June 16 (11:30am dismissal).

Happy Weekend,

Jackie
