FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR 2015-16 YEAR!

May 22, 2014

Dear SES Moose,

It’s a little crazy that next week is the final week of May. Another week has zoomed past. This week grades 3-6 finished up PARCC testing. Musicians in grades 2-6 performed their final strings concert, with their teacher, Mr. Peele. It was a fabulous concert and I was so impressed with the talent and dedication of our students.

The week ahead includes our SES Art Show and General Music performance on Wednesday, May 27th.  The Art Show begins at 6:00 pm and the concert begins at 6:30 pm. ALL SES students are involved in this production. Students should arrive at school by 6:20pm. They should wear dark shorts and a colorful shirt.

As you enter the school, please notice our special school spirit trinkets. EveLynn and the 5/6 classrooms created a maroon and gold (our school colors) Moose banner that is displayed in the hall. We also have an authentic “Moose X-ing” sign that was donated to us by an SES secret admirer.

I wish you and your family a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend.

Jackie Mendonsa

SES Student Interview of the Week!

Maya from 6th Grade!

JM: What do you love about SES?

MF: I really love that it is a small school and that we all know each other. I like that there’s good teachers and that they are all really nice.

JM: What do you like to do in your spare time?

MF: Well, I really love horses, so I horseback ride. I also do dance and acro.

JM: What do you want to be when you grow up?

MF: I don’t really know, but I kind of want to be a veterinarian because I really love animals.

JM: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

MF: I like watermelon a lot!

***SCHOOL NEWS***

Extra Clothes/Sneakers Needed!  We are running low on extra clothes and sneakers.  You can help in 2 ways.  First, you could help your child remember to pack their own sneakers and socks on days when they have PE.

Second, you could donate to our extra clothes/sneakers stash that we keep in Dennise’s office.  If your child has outgrown pants, leggings or socks since the fall, we would happily accept them as a donation.  We are also on the lookout for sneakers in sizes toddler 11 – adult 9.  Thank you very much for your help!

Staff Appreciation Lunch:  This year's lunch will be on Thursday, May 28.  It is a  great way for parents to thank the teachers and staff of Shutesbury Elementary School for all they do for our children.  The staff always express their great enjoyment and appreciation of this event.

We need volunteers to contribute food and drinks and to set up (9-11:30am) and clean up (1:15-2:45) the lunch.  If you can help in any way, please contact Ann Shea ([email protected]).
