Dear Moose,
BRAVO to the 6th grade students, teachers and families for a FABULOUS Spaghetti Dinner! It was an incredible event. How great was it to have the community come together to support our school and share in a delicious meal and tradition. THANK YOU to those who went above and beyond to make sure this happened.
BRAVO as well to the amazing SES PTO for the incredible Silent Auction last Friday. Preliminary results are finding that the PTO raised about $5,700 from this event! WOW! Special thanks go to Colleen Chudzik for facilitating the organization. THANKS!
We were treated to a fabulous Strings Concert on Wednesday by Mr. Peele and his talented students. It was a lovely event and I’ve shared some pictures below. Way to go Mr. Peele and strings students! We are indeed lucky as a school community to have these lessons available to our students.
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT! Our School Council has created a NEW and DIFFERENT survey that we are inviting the community to fill out. We decided to use a more open-ended format, to invite all stakeholders to elaborate and express what they are thinking rather than a drop down or multiple-choice format. We are asking that you take 5 minutes to let us know your thoughts so we can continue to work to make SES the best it can be. There is an option at the end of the survey to enter to win 2 of Chef Gail’s famous homemade pizzas!
Go to: http://goo.gl/forms/M9I4F8nm4x7f9ket2 (you can click that link from this page!) to take the survey. We will also be sending home a paper copy if you would rather share your thoughts in that format. It is a brief survey!
There are many special events occurring in the next few weeks. Today, the 5th Grade went on a fabulous scientific field trip to Amethyst Brook and UMASS. Next week, the 6th Grade will be travelling to Boston to visit MIT for a chemistry project and then a scavenger hunt in Harvard Square! Also, the Band Concert will occur next week on Wednesday, May 25th at 10:30am and 6:30pm. Please check the events to remember portion of the RTN for updates in this busy time of year.

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***
Betsy from PreK/Kindergarten!
JCB: What is your favorite thing about our school?
BG: That it’s not like camp. I don’t like camp.
JCB: Why don’t you like camp?
BG: Because I’m not with my mom and I’m not with a teacher that I really know.
JCB: What is your favorite Special?
BG: Gym. It’s active and I love to be active and I never really get tired of being active.
JCB: If you could eat one food for the rest of your life and only one food, what would it be?
BG: Oatmeal (with raisins and cranberries or apples or blueberries) or Ramen noodles.
JCB: What would you like to be when you grow up?
BG: Someone that takes care of fires. A fireman!

Golf Tournament Postponed: Due to circumstances beyond our control the golf tournament that was scheduled for thi
s Saturday May 21st has been postponed until September. We will continue to work on making this event happen and will send out the new date as soon as it is confirmed.
Staff Appreciation Lunch: This year's lunch will be on Thursday, June 2nd. It is a great way for parents to thank the teachers and staff of Shutesbury Elementary School for all they do for our children.
The PTO needs volunteers to contribute food and drinks and to set up (9-11:30am) and clean up (1:15-2:45) the lunch. If you can help in any way, please contact Ann Shea ([email protected]).
Target RedCard Funds! The PTO received a check this week for $50.00 from the Target RedCard program! Thank you Target shoppers!
