Greetings Fellow Moose,

The first 7 days of school have been filled with much happiness and joy. It has been a real treat watching the students and teachers create classroom expectations and get to know each other. Thank you to all of our incredible teachers who have worked so hard to ensure a smooth and happy start to school.

We hope to see everyone back at the school tonight for the Harvest Dinner Potluck Picnic! We are asking families to bring a locally sourced food dish to share. We will have tables set up and will all enjoy a potluck style feast. Please bring a blanket to dine on! Students will be able to play on the playgrounds and back field under parent/guardian supervision.  This event will begin at 5:00 and end at 6:30—before it begins to get dark!  Hope to see you all there!

Open House will take place on Wednesday September 21^st.  Open House at SES is for parents and guardians only. Students do not attend this event. The evening is for parents and guardians to hear about the exciting learning and events that happen in the school year. Open House also provides a chance to ask questions and become more familiar with your child’s teacher. The schedule this year is as follows:

Pre K- 6:00 pm
Grades K, 1, 2, 3 -6:30-7:15 pm
Community Gathering in Gym- 7:15-7:45
Grades 4, 5, 6 -7:45-8:15

If you have not done so, please submit your application for free/reduced lunch so that it can be processed.  Also, please remember that all checks written for school lunch and afterschool should be written (in blue or black ink) to the Town of Shutesbury with lunch or afterschool on the memo line.

Next week there is a School Committee meeting on Thursday the 15^th and the PTO will host some fun events at Celebrate Shutesbury on the Town Common from 10-2 on Saturday September 17^th!

Eden from 2^nd Grade!

JCB:  What is your favorite thing about our school?
EH:  That’s hard.  There’s so many good things.  The big “Moose Country” posters?

JCB:  What would you like to be when you grow up?
EH:  A teacher.

JCB:  What do you like to do in your spare time?
EH:  Play on my Ipad.  Gymnastics starts today!

JCB:  What are you looking forward to at school this year?
EH:  Science.  I don’t know what we’ll be doing, but Emma goes on my bus and she says it’s cool.
