Dear Moose Community,

April break has arrived! It seems as though spring-like temperatures are on the way! Saturday is supposed to be beautiful-- a great way to begin vacation.

After April break, special activities REALLY pick up at SES. It is a very busy (and exciting) time. We will try to keep the website updated as much as possible to reflect all of the exciting happenings in the last few months of school.

Some major highlights coming up:

  • May 11th is the 34th Annual Sixth Grade Spaghetti Dinner! Be on the lookout for tickets being sold by students! Save the date for this amazing tradition!
  • PTO Mother's Day Breakfast organized by Gus Carlson at the Shutesbury Athletic Club 5/13 at 9:30-12:00 (see flyer in RTN).
  • Mr. Carra's before school and after school clubs! (Information included in RTN)
  • Moose on the Move Running/Walking Club on Tuesday afternoons and Monday and Friday mornings (see flyer in RTN)
  •  4th Annual student-led Drama Club (led by 6th graders Arin Andrews and Jordan Goodhind) for students in grades 3-6. Tuesday afternoons, begins in May- information and permission slips will be sent home!
  • Math MCAS for grades 3-6 in May. Schedule to follow.

I am happy to announce that our amazing grade 2 teacher, Ms. Culbreth, will be moving into our Title I/Reading Specialist position next fall. We will be hiring a new grade 2 teacher for SES in the coming months.

I am looking forward to sharing in the fun events coming up within our school community! Enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing students back at school on April 23rd!

Jackie

***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***

Aubrey from 1st Grade!

AB

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at school?
AB:  Do gymnastics with Mr. Carra.

JCB:  What’s your favorite book?
AB:  Piggy and Gerald books.  Tomorrow I’m going to bring a whole chapter to school.  My aunt gave it to me.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
AB:  Bone chicken and pizza.  Pizza with cheese without sauce.  I had that last night.  I really don’t like sauce.

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?
AB:  I like to play with my dog, Mack.  We play tag outside and hide-and-seek inside.  And I give him piggybacks.

JCB:  If you could be any animal what animal would you be and why?
AB:  Um, I would want to be a snake because I love snakes.  They’re smooth and they have cool facts and they lick you sometimes when they sniff.  When they’re putting out their tongues, they sniff.

JCB:  Is there anything else that’s special about you that we should know?
AB:  I have two dads.  One lives in CT.  I see him every weekend.  He has two dogs.

JCB:  What are you looking forward to doing this summer?
AB:  My cousin has the same time of vacation so we’re going to the arcade, we’re going to watch a movie and then we’re going to a museum in Northampton.  It’s a huge, huge, huge structure!
